For the past three years The Old Enfield Charitable Trust has opened its doors at The Old Vestry Building as part of Open House London event, giving people the opportunity not only to see what remains of the old Beadle’s residence, holding-cells and police station but also an opportunity to view the original Charter and Royal Seal issued by King James I to Enfield in 1618, granting the right to hold a Saturday Market. This year, as part of the 400th Charter Anniversary celebrations the Vestry will be open both Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd September. Outside, in the Market Place there will be historical walks and activities with the opportunity to visit St Andrew’s Church Open House and view their fine 14th century eight-bell tower.
